What a top week!

Hello everybody!

First of all I want to apology for not keeping your updated about the show in Pompadour... Our schedule was very busy and there was no time for updates. But… it has been a top week!

We arrived on Monday so that the horses could get used to their new stalls and we could prepare for the show in a relaxed way. On Thursday the vet check was on the program and on Friday I had to compete three horses.

On Friday and Saturday I first had to show Deep Purple in the test for six year olds. This great talented Quaterback x Scandic gelding is owned by the Wilms family. It was his First competition. He only has been to CH Leende recently but he doesn’t had show experience. Deep Purple has learned a lot these days and he did two nice tests. In the final he came second! Of course he is green and we had some mistakes but the judges were very positive about him! He got the highest score of all six year olds for ‘General Impression’.

Authentic and Showboy have been shown at small tour level.

At the show Pompadour there was a new main arena. Super cool but pooohhhh… what a difficult arena to ride! The horses were pretty spooky and the arena was not quite equal. It was pretty exciting but these circumstances were the same for every one. I really had to ride!

Authentic was super on the First day. She did an incredible job. Unfortunately we got a mistake in both tempi changes series and of course that cost a lot of points. We got over 68% and we finished third.

On the second day we had to ride the Intermediaie 1 and I decided to ride a bit more safe. This was only the second Inter I test for Authentic and everything is pretty new to her. It was less spectacular but we didn’t make big mistakes and I was satisfied. We scored almost 69% and we came second, behind Showboy! As I only could compete one horse in the Freestyle I choose Showboy. Authentic had done a super job but she in inexperienced at this level so that why we choose Showboy.

Showboy won all three days in Pompadour!!!

All three days Showie was super and super fit! In the first test, the Prix St. Georges we had a small mistake in the pirouette in walk and in the tempi changes every fourth stride when we lost the balance.

The Intermediaire 1 was super again! We scored many eighths and a nine for the shoulder in on the center line! The score was almost 70% and it could have been more as we had a small miscommunication in exercises which count x2.

On Sunday the final, the freestyle at Inter 1 level, was on the program. It had been raining a lot and we could almost swim during our warming up but Showboy didn’t mind. It was a little excited to enter the ring as all the public stood there but Showboy was focussed again. We had over 3% more than the runner up and I was the only one scoring above 70%. So we listened to the national anthem for the third time!!

We can look back to a very successful week and I am very proud of my horses!

Nico and Gwendoline Wilms, the owners of Deep Purple, and the co-owner of Authentic, Louise Kortstee, had come to Pompadour as well and we had a great time! I would like to thank them for their help and support!

In Pompadour my student Guusje van Heeswijk competed with her two ponies as well. I could help her every day and she performed very good all three days. She won several prizes and in the final she came fourth with a score over 70%.
