Barcelona Dressage tour: Deep Purple

As mentioned before I will write an article per horse which has been competed in Barcelona. I competed four horses at the Barcelona Dressage Tour.

On the first competition day I showed Deep Purple, a seven year old gelding by Quaterback x Scandic. Deep Purple is owned by the Wilms family and Mandy competed this horse at Z1 level.

We took Deep Purple to Barcelona to gain more experience. The reason I competed him was that there was an extra class, the Classica 1, 2 and 3 and therefore I could show him three times a week. This test is like Dutch Z2 level added with one diagonal with three flying changes.

Deep Purple did his utmost best and he got better every test. The weather in the first week was really bad and that caused some tention but anyway, his tests were really good. After this first week we knew our home work and we trained a couple of days before the second week started. It is great to see what a fast learner he is!

The test on the first day of the second week was top and the score was over 69%. We finished third in this big field. The second day was super a well although he stopped all the sudden when something was turned over
unexpectedly. This time we scored over 67% and we came fifth. Too bad we had this big stop in the test as the scores were very close in the top (number three had 67% as well).

I am very greatful I had the chance to compete this talented horse. He has learned a lot and I enjoyed my rides!

Lots of love, Joyce
